Jadi didalam buku ini menjelaskan sedikit tentang scope. Scope biasanya dibuat didalam dokumen. Dokumen tersebut biasanya dikeluarkan dan digunakan oleh customer dalam proyek tersebut untuk merencanakan kesuksesan dari proyek yang sedang diproses. Scope mejelaskan hasil apa yang akan terjadi atau tercipta ketika si proyek tersebut telah selesai kepada si customer. Sebuah project scope harus mengandung beberapa kriteria sebagai berikut :
1.Objektif dari project
2.Penyampaian
3.Peristiwa penting yang terjadi
4.Kebutuhan teknikal
5.Keterbatasan dan pengecualian
6.Diketahui oleh si customer
Definisi dari scope itu sendiri adalah sebuah tahap untuk menyelesaikan dan mengembangkan sebuah project plan. Di dalam project scope itu sendiri terdapat sebuah penjelasan yang presisi atau tepat mengenai hasil yang diinginkan dari sebuah proyek atau produk untuk si customer yang diminta kepada si pengembang proyek. Scope itu sendiri harus dibuat dan dikembangkan dibawah pengawasan dan pengarahan dari project manager ataupun customer.

accomplished. The develop preliminary project scope statement process addresses
and documents the characteristics and boundaries of the project and its associated
products and services, as well as the methods of acceptance and scope
control. A project scope statement includes:

■ Product acceptance criteria
■ Product or service requirements and characteristics
■ Project boundaries
■ Project requirements and deliverables
■ Project constraints
■ Project assumptions
■ Initial project organization
■ Initial defi ned risks
■ Schedule milestones
■ Initial WBS
■ Order of magnitude cost estimate
■ Project confi guration management requirements
■ Approval requirements
The preliminary project scope statement is developed from information provided
by the initiator or sponsor. The project management team in the scope
defi nition process further refi nes the preliminary project scope statement into
the fi nal project scope statement. The project scope statement content will
vary depending upon the application area and complexity of the project and
can include some or all of the components identifi ed above. During subsequent
phases of multiphase projects, the develop preliminary project scope statement
process validates and refi nes, if required, the project scope defi ned for
that phase.
